Data and coverage

Where Mr. Market's data comes from, how fresh it is, and what isn't covered.

Companies#

Mr. Market covers US SEC-registered companies in its saved universe: about 1,600 companies with full statements, growing over time. search_companies finds any SEC-listed company and says whether it's saved (inSavedUniverse). Filings, insider trades and EDGAR search work for any SEC filer.

What's computed#

  • Ratios (margins, returns, growth, leverage) are computed from the reported statements; each names its formula.
  • Growth & Quality scores 31 metrics into a 0–100 composite. Metrics that aren't meaningful (a tiny prior-year base, for example) are left out with a reason instead of being forced.
  • Derived lines (such as gross profit when a company doesn't report it) are marked derived with the formula.

Not covered#

  • Non-US listings and companies outside the saved universe (for statements).
  • Market cap or sector screens (the screener uses reported figures and SEC industry codes).
  • Intraday or real-time prices.
  • Your saved lists, notes and personal settings on the website.

Accuracy#

Mr. Market reports what companies filed and what providers publish. Filings get amended, transcripts contain transcription errors, and free market data can lag. Every result carries its source so you can check it. Nothing here is investment advice.
